Hi everyone! I hope you've all had a blessed, fruitful and wonderful first four months of the new year so far and as we face 2021, let us be reminded that despite the mess that was 2020, we can begin anew. I hope you'll appreciate this piece and let's get started.
Where do I even begin... as we all know, 2020 has given everyone a false sense of hope with hashtags such as #2020Vision, and I think we all can agree that it wasn't the best of years, perhaps it could even be the worst year for some of us. Quarantine, unexpected deaths, masks, transmissions, toilet paper shortage - you name it, 2020 had it all.
However, as such events and mishaps occurred during 2020, there were certain lessons that I came across within a year where we all have thought that nothing would come out of; so without further ado, let's get on with it!
First of all, I learned that guarantees mean nothing until it becomes one. We have all been told that nothing is guaranteed in life, and I do agree with this statement. Whether it be one's life, job, friendship, relationship or even anything we are hoping to achieve, it is not guaranteed until we make it happen. Yet with this thing called life, comes along risks, and sometimes we have to take risks for us to move forward, or else we'll be stuck in the same loop of disappointments, setbacks, cares.
The sooner we realise that we need to be out of our comfort zone as we move through life, the earlier we will realise that life is great with all its joys and everything else in between. So if you need that extra push to make your goals happen, here it is - God has put all the best things in life on the other side of fear.
Second, never be afraid to give love another chance (again and again). There's a phrase that goes along the lines of "coaches don't play", and this applies to people who have been giving relationship advice to those in relationships yet remain single. Well, here is the catch - if you are a ‘coach’, you will eventually find someone whom you will like and would want to give the world to and that's perfectly normal!
Healing from traumatic friendships, relationships or even the ‘almost‘ may take a while however in doing so, we then realise that we cannot heal at the same place where we got hurt, so, therefore, we need to change our environment - and this could even be our physical environment, our social circle, connections and much more. We need to differentiate those who want to keep us in our lives - truly; and those who linger around because it suits them. The moment we learn this, each of us can confidently say that "I know my worth" and as a reminder, you are not worth countless, sleepless nights where you cry your eyes out. You are not worth mixed emotions. You are not worth being just an option. You are not worth inconsistency, selfishness and indecisiveness; however, you are worthy of love, a love that chooses you every day and that won't fail to love you at your best and at your worst.
Finally, the last lesson is that we should never, ever, play the blame game. When something goes wrong, we often ask why?
"Why did something happen? Why did someone have to die? Why did I have to go through heartbreaks? Why do I keep doing what I'm doing?"
These are the questions that often keeps us awake at night yet at the end of it all we need to realise that when we trust Him, we allow Him to do His works. It may not be at the timing we expected nor how we wanted it to be, yet we need to keep trusting Him. We often get caught in the trap of finding the easy way out and normally we do this by deflecting the blame onto something else, however, we must realise that we need to be accountable for our own actions and must not give excuses to get away from the reality we're all facing.
And that is all! There were many more lessons I have learned throughout 2020, however, I needed to pick the ones that resonate with me the most and I hope you can relate in any way with me during this piece! As always, if you find this piece interesting, please do check out the rest!
I have been inactive lately although the blogs will be coming through! Also, check out 'The People's Vlog' on YouTube as more content will be released by yours truly this year!
May you and your loved ones stay safe from all harm especially with what is going on around the world at the moment. I wish you the very best in life and may you achieve your goals for the year 2021! God bless.
Much love,
Dredd
